Testing:

MSI 955X Platinum
Intel P4 3,8GHz
ATI Radeon X300
2GB OCZ DDR2
Maxtor 80GB HDD 7200 RPM

Idle voltages were taken idling in Windows and full loads was taken while running loops of Pcmark2005.

Testing was done on the following rails, 3.3V, 5V and 12V and the voltages were taken with a multimeter.5V testing:

The 12V usually ends up being the most unstable rail as we can see. Both the 5V and 12V rails are a bit unstable but the good thing is that the voltages go up instead of down under load. I have this far not had any stability issues and what shocks me the most is that they have been able to make this run even cooler than their previous models that are almost silent.

I thought that the modular cables might make the rails a bit unstable due to bad connection but I found out that I was wrong. I have talked with a few manufacturers and they have said that they are leaving the modular PSU market due to the connection problems I was talking about, but the question is if they actually will profit anything from leaving it since modular power supplys make things alot easier when you build a computer.

Conclusion:

This is one of the quietest power supplys I have ever tested. I am shocked to be completely honest on how Zalman can keep making their products less noisy. I even thought the modular cables would make the rails more unstable but I was wrong and I admit it. Otherwise I don’t see any flaws with this power supply, so far our testing has not found any problems at all, even though the rails don’t stay as stable as I wish they would have stayed. The new heatpipe system does work as this PSU does not overheat at all. I want to give this product 4 out of 5 and our recommendations.

Pros:

+ Stays cool
+ Quiet!
+ Well packed
+ Modular

Cons:

- Rails not as stable as I would want them

Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots
