The heatsink unit of the VF950 LED is made from nickel plated aluminum. There’s 52 fins and a 80mm fan bolted in the middle of them. The base of the heatsink is connected to the fin area with two nickel plated copper heatpipes. The surface of the base is finished and plated to be polishing and unlike many other heatsinks I’ve encountered, the finishing of the base seemed not to have any kind of grooves. Is this a good, or bad thing – that’s the question manufacturers keep asking themselves. There are manufacturers which think that grooves are good for heatsinkbases while others say absolutely not.

Let’s have a quick look at the memory heatsinks and fanmate provided with our sample unit. Memory heatsinks are small, about 3mm high, and made from aluminum. There are two sided tapes connected to the surface of the heatsinks to make it easy to connect the heatsinks to memory modules. There’s also the FanMate 2 for adjusting speed of the fan within the range of 5-11V.

VF770 comes in black colored cardboard box. The frontside has a plastic window where you can see the heatsink and fan. On the backside it shows you same kind of information as the backside of the VF950 had on its box.

Bundled with the heatsink are the same kind of accessories as with the VF950. Couple screws and bolts, memory heatsinks, brief manual. However there’s no fanmate with this product, instead there’s a simple molex to FAN connector adatper.
