Installing the HDD cooler onto the hard drive is easy; simply install the cooler using two screws and plug in the 4-pin power connector. The cooler has slots where the screws go, allowing you to adjust the exact placement of the cooler.Since this is a single fan, you have the option of installing it toward the front or rear of the hard drive (I chose the rear for reasons Ill explain in a bit).Powering up the cooler, we see the cool blue LED light, which adds to that cool and fabulous feeling. The fan operates very quietly; I would call it a silent fan.

Everything was going smoothly with the installation until it came time to put the hard drive/cooler back into the computer case.First off, if it wasnt obvious, this type of cooler takes up the nearest 3.5 hard drive bay, rendering it unusable. But another slight problem I had was the cooler needed to be moved to the back of the hard drive to avoid interference with the tabs in the hard drive cage. After some readjustments, I was able to get the hard drive reinstalled.

Testing:

Test System:
AMD 64+ 3200+ S939 Winchester
ECS RX480-A Motherboard
1 GB Corsair ValueSelect PC3200 DDR RAM
Western Digital 250 GB 7200 rpm harddrive

Idle temperatures were taken running Windows after 30 minutes and full loads were taken while running SiSandras Burn-in Module.Temperatures (in degrees Celsius) were recorded, with the results compared with a no HDD cooler.Ambient temp was about 22C.

As seen by the results, the HDD cooler did lower the hard drive by a noticeable difference.

Conclusion:

The Vizo Orbiter HDD cooler is a simple product that does make a difference in performance. While lacking some of the bells and whistles of fancier HDD, this cooler performs where it counts: cooling your hard drive. If youre looking for an easy-to-install hard drive cooler also looks cool, I would recommend you consider the Vizo Orbiter cooler. However, there is a chance of interference issues, so check your case first to make sure it will accommodate the cooler.Overall, I would give the Vizo Orbiter HDD cooler a 4 out of 5.

Pros:

+ Silent operations
+ Easy to install
+ Cool blue LED

Cons:

- Some interference with hard drive cage
- No fan speed/temperature display
