On the left side we have a closeup on the fan and the heatsink that cools down the 933 mhz processor. The fan itself is ultra quiet and I cannot hear it even when I put my ear close to it. My IBM harddrive is alot louder than this motherboard. It’s amazing actually how an AMD can run so hot and this so cool. On the right side we find the IDE ports and the Dimm slot, unfortunately there is only one so you have to spend your hard earned money on buying a 512 DDR stick for this if you are not satisfied with 256…?!

1 pci slot? Well with this rocking board you don’t need more than that since everything is built on this board already :) Lets see on the right picture we find the PS2 ports, the monitor plugin, LAN, USB ports and the SVGA port for some TV out.

On the other side of the back on the card we find the composite out, LPT1, 1 seriell port and the sound ports. On the right picture I wanted to show the difference between a normal motherboard and this Mini ITX. As we see the difference is really different.

Here we have the motherboard installed in a normal size ATX case.

Testing:

Testing was done on a:
VIA EPIA M9000 motherboard
256 mb Crucial DDR
IBM 60 GXP 60gig 7200 rpm harddrive
52X Cdrom

Testing will be done with PowerDVD built in ddtester and with Pcmark2002

Unfortunetly I do not have any other Via boards to compare these stats to but as soon as I get another Via board this will change and I will put up some comparison stats.

Conclusion:

What about the pricing on one of these? Well I found prices that were around ~145$. That’s cheap in my eyes for this compact system with everything you need. I’m going to start a new project and build myself a HTPC with this board. I really like this small board and its really quiet :) It’s got alot of ports and svideo etc so basically you don’t need more than a case, cdrom and harddrive to get this motherboard running. The only bad thing I found about this was that there is only one single memory slot and that makes it a little more expensive if you are not satisfied with a single 256 mb DDR stick. All in call we at rbmods.com recommend this product and give it 5 out of 5 for a great product.

Pros:
+ Small
+ Alot of features
+ Fast to be this small
+ Good documentation
+ Cheap
+ Quiet

Cons:
- One memory slot only

Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots
