Taking a closer look at the product shows us that the disk is connected to the computer via USB2.0 (backwards compatible with USB1.1) connector. Unfortunately there isn’t slot for additional power supply. This can be an issue with owners of Apple Ibook as they dont provide the 500mA standardised in USB standard. Overall of the product is pretty stylish and the product feels firm and solid in hand.

We decided to take a look inside the case so you don’t have to. Bare in mind that opening the case voids products warranty and is therefore not recommended. Inside we see small circuit board which does the interface conversion from SATA->USB. The drive itself is made by Samsung, has RPM rate of 5400 and 8M buffer.

Verbatim advertises that the drive has backup capabilities. Plugging the drive in to the computer and looking whats inside reveals the truth. Nero BackItUp Essentials backup program is provided with the drive. Verbatim also provided good manuals in pdf-form in many languages storaged to the hard disk.

TurboSpeed program that verbatim provided us seemed very interesting when I recieved the product. A couple clicks and the program is installed. Unfortunately however we did not see any performance increase what so ever using the TurboSpeed program. Maybe in some conditions you could see the promised 25% performance boost but we tried using the hard drive in four different computers, with no luck. Performance was same with or without the TurboSpeed program.
