If you decide to go for this chispet cooler, make sure you have some room around the chipset you will mount this on as it’s quite high and might hit your cpu cooler, I will show you what I mean a bit later in the review. The heatsink part is extremely well made and as we can see the bottom is completely scratch and dent free. I still think they could have put a bit more lapping work on the bottom though.

On the left picture we can see the heatsink&fan compared to a SonyEricsson T610 cellphone and we can see it’s smaller than the phone but it’s still quite big for a chipset heatsink. The installation manual is very good and easy to understand, on the right picture I have done 2 steps and it’s almost installed and ready to go.

The mounting is very easy but as we see on the right picture there might be some minor problems with a bigger cpu cooler. In this case I have a Zalman CNPS 9500 AT cooler which fits but its a very tight squeeze.

Testing:

Intel P4 3,0 and 3,8 Ghz 800mhz
MSI 955X Platinum
Gigabyte X1600
Mushkin DDR2
Maxtor 80Gb 7200 RPM
OCZ Powerstream 520W

Ambient temperature during testing was 22 degrees celsius.

Our testing shows that we had a 7 degrees drop during idle mode and a 6 degree under full load and on top of this we had a much quieter system with the high quality fan on this chipset heatsink. We were able to overclock 5 FSB more with this heatsink on as it was able to withstand the heat and run a stable setup even under overclocking. Conclusion:

If you want to get rid of those annoying low quality fans and heatsinks on the chipsets this is your choice. You don’t have to be affraid of the fan dying or the heatsink not being able to do the work it’s supposed to do. You also get a high quality fan which is VERY quiet but is still able to cool of the heatsink. Overall I want to say this is an awesome chipset cooler with a very easy installation therefore we give this 5 out of 5 and our Editors choice award.

Pros:

+ Quiet fan
+ High quality heatsink
+ Copper base
+ Easy installation
+ Well packed
+ Good mounting instructions

Cons:

- Motherboard has to be removed for mounting
