Introduction and Conclusion
Supertalent is well known of their high quality RAM-modules, but during the last few years they have expanded production to USB-modules and MP3 players. Their newest invention is Solid State Disk -drives. With USB-modules Supertalent has not settled for just traditional USB-modules. They try always invent something new, since on fullbooked USB-flash module markets traditional products will not be distinguished from the mass. We had an opportunity to review worlds smallest USB Flash Drive, Supertalent Pico-A 8GB Flash Drive, which is both water resistant and shock proof. Supertalents USB-module selection includes also Pico-B and Pico-C models, which differ mainly with size, though all being very small.

Our Pico-A module was delivered in transparent plastic packing. On the front side of package you can see the module itself and a small chain which helps you to put module in keychain. Without a doubt, module sized of 38mm and covered with looking-glass metal looks very nice, someone would even say it’s cute. On the rear side of package Supertalent has decided to only give you URL to their network site and to say, that module is compatible with both USB1.1 and USB2.0. You should also notice that Pico-A is waterproof, although it is not mentioned in the package.

In the package you find everything you need – no more or less. Included are only the USB-module and a small chain. I’d liked to see also driver-cd for older Windowses. Also USB extension cable would have been handy, since not everyone have front usb connectors on their cases. The memory module itself is swissmade knife stylish and is very easy to put in cover, and to get out of there.

In size comparison with Sandisk Cruzer Micro 2GB you can easily see how slender Pico-A really is. You should also notice that Supertalent has also Pico-B and Pico-C modules, which are even smaller than Pico-A.
Pico-A seems to perform very well in our test. Though it is not the fastest one, it definately is not the slowest one either. Pico-A is a bit slower in small files, but when moving towards large files the performancecap between Pico-A and reference results gets narrower.
Conclusion:
Priced at 37USD Pico-A is not the cheapest, but definately not the most expensive module you can find. Looking great with decent performance you can’t say much bad words of it. What comes to water resistance is to be seen, we did not test it. At least I can promise you that it won’t break in small amounts of water, but I would not swim with it. All in all, this is one great product from Supertalent and we hope that they will continue to invent more such great products.
Pros:
+ Small size
+ Nice performance
Cons:
- No driver-cd included
- No USB extension cable included
