Startech duplicator comes in an orange cardboard box. Specifications and main features are printed throughout the box and there are some pictures of the device itself in there too. Specifications reveal that the device is based on JMicron JMB352U chipset which is a high speed a high speed USB/SATA2 to dual SATA2 multiplier bridge. Inside we find the actual device accompanied with the power supply, manual, eSATA- and USB cables. The device itself is about 7cm / side and square in formation. It has SATA (data + power) connectors on two sides; one side has eSATA connector and the fourth side has DC-in jack and USB-connector. The manual has six pages and it reveals us how to use-the device step by step.

On top we find start and dup / pc buttons (mode select duplication / USB HDD) and rough four step progress bar. Startech Duplicator can act also as USB->SATA bridge, meaning you can plug your hard disk in and use it as USB device getting the same function as with USB hard disk drives. If you want to use HD Duplicator Dock as USB HDD, you simply press dup/pc button for couple seconds and the dup/pc led should become green. In duplication mode, it will be lit as red.
