Motherboard removal is required to install the backplate, which is always a bit of a pain. After the backplate is screwed down it’s just a matter of placing the heatsink down and tightening two retention thumb screws.

Here you can really see the size of the heatsink, covering almost half the motherboard. With my particular setup, the cooler covers the dimms slots. Now since there is plenty of clearance, it doesn’t interfere with the RAM, but actually cools it.The drawback is if I want to add more memory, I’ll have to remove the heatsink.

The fan speed adjuster is installed on one of your cases’ expansion slots.Absolutely nothing to installing it, and allows for adjustments from 0 to about 2500 RPMs.

Testing was done using S&M 1.7.6 against Arctic Coolings Freezer 64 Pro.AC coolers was only tested at silent fan speed, while the NT06 was tested at both silent and max RPM.

Silverstone’s NT06 pretty much beats out the Freezer 64 Pro across the board, all except for one fluke I think. While at stock speeds the cpu barely gets over 100F degrees and even with overclocking the temperatures don’t raise too much.
Conclusion:
While the price tag may be a little high, the NT06 would be a great choice for anyone will to spend the money.Installation wasn’t really any problem other than having to remove the motherboard, and the temperatures should be good enough for anyone that’s still looking at air cooling.
Pros:
+ Temp
+ Easy installation
+ Adjustable fan settings
+ Still good cooling at silent fan speeds
Cons:
- Price
- At max rpms the fan is very annoying
