It’s been a while since we’ve taken a look at hard disk enclosures. Today we will review new USB3 enclosure for two hard disks. Raidsonic IcyBox IB-RD3219StU3 is capable of RAIDing the disks in both RAID0 and RAID1. Let’s see how well it performs and what other nice features it has.

The Product:
Raidsonic IcyBox comes in white and blue cardboard box. You’ll see on the front side an image of the actual product along with the main specifications and a smaller picture of the backpanel. According to the box it will support RAID0, RAID1 and JBOD modes. IB-RD3219-StU3 is also based on fanless design and therefore it should be very quiet (depending on the hard disks you use of course). IB-RD3219-StU3 is priced around 65€ so while it isn’t the cheapest HDD enclosure in the market, however considering its specifications (RAID, SATA3, Capability for two drtives) it is well within the reasonable price-range for such a product.
Raidsonic has kept the accessories provided with the product plain and simple. You get power supply, USB cable, small bag of screws and the actual enclosure.
IR-RD3219StU3:s enclosure is made from black painted metal. The casing seems very solid and should act like a heatsink providing some cooling for your hard disks. During our test period we noticed that the case will heat up a bit but that is the result of fanless design. IB-RD3219StU3’s dimensions are 11cm x 8cm x 19cmand it weighs 620grams.
