Introduction
We all know the Modstream with its modular cables and the Powerstream with superb performance. OCZ has now released the new GameXstream which I guess has taken the best bits and pieces from these power supplies and combined it. I noticed though that they have not used modular cables on this and I will explain later why it’s that way. We will compare it to the Powerstream and a Coolermaster power supply to see what type of performance we can get compared to the two other contenders.
About Ocz:
Entering the memory market in August 2000, OCZ Technology was built around the determination to manufacture the best high speed DDR and RDRAM. OCZ was founded by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, and our commitment to the end-user has not digressed. OCZ Technology has been an innovator in many areas.
We were the first manufacturer to make Dual Channel optimized memory available to the public, which originally took advantage of nVidia’s Twinbank or Dual DDR architecture, found in their nForce chipset. We have now taken that technology and tailored it for the Canterwood, and Granite Bay chipset’s. OCZ developed and was the first to implement ULN technology, which has been a critical element in our manufacturing process for some time.We at OCZ diligently work to improve communication with CPU and motherboard chipset manufacturers prior to the release of their products. Only in this manner can we fine-tune our memory’s SPD settings, ensuring a synergistic relationship between the memory module, memory controller, and microprocessor. In todays rapidly evolving semiconductor industry, such communication is not simply research, but a necessary component of our manufacturing process.

It will be interesting to see how this new GameXstream performs tonight. At arrival we unpacked this box with a picture of the unit on it and as we can see it has a 120 mm LED fan mounted and the case part is black to match todays standard black and silver cases. On the back of the box you will find some information and features if you are interested in reading them before buying.

Inside the box I found a manual, power cable, and the power supply which was packed in bubble wrap to prevent damaged during shipping.

On the back they have mounted a grill to ventilate the hot air out of the unit, you also have the power plugin and blue on/off switch. The voltages on the side looks very nice with four 12V rails each with 18A and also a 30A 5V rail. It’s time to take a final look on the unit and check out some testing stats so click on the link on the bottom to get to the next page.
