Conclusion

Todays games have started to require more power and one of the main things is ram. 1Gb or ram is required these days and 2Gb is almost recommended. We got a 2Gb kit from OCZ called PC-4000 1024MB Gold Edition Dual Channel that seems to be a very nice kit with decently low timings and 500mhz memory. We are of course going to test these out vs some high performing 1Gb kits to see if there is any difference in performance. Overclocking is also an important point to many so we will be testing this with lower timings and really heat these sticks up to see how high they can go.

Pcmark2005:

The final benchmark shows that the 2gb OCZ kit is faster in this test also. It’s time for us to take a look at some overclocking and see what we can do with this kit.

Overclocking:

We were able to push this ram quite a bit. We started out with standard timings and got it up to 240 FSB without any major changes. We boosted the voltage to the ram with 0,4V and that helped us reach a stable 240 FSB. Standard timings for this kit is 3-4-4-8 so running 240 FSB we lowered the timing to 2,5-4-4-8 and it worked fine. Lowering the timings more gave us a bit unstable setup. The computer booted with 250 FSB but was not able to run windows stable so 240 FSB was the best setting to get a stable setup. It’s time to conclude this review and sum everything up!Conclusion:

Well this is an extremely nice kit we got on our hands here. It’s fast in stock speeds and it does offer some overclocking also. For 2gb you pay a bit more so 308$ is what you have to cash up and I think that it’s not that bad of a price at all since you get OCZ ram plus a lifetime warranty on your ram. We have seen the proof through testing that its a high quality ram and that you get a very good performance for your hard earned money. Not everyone needs 2gb of ram, but if you are in the market for it I would most certainly look into this kit. I cannot see any cons thus far with the ram and I doubt there will be any either.

Pros:

+ Fast
+ Overclocks well
+ Well packed
+ High quality heatsinks

Cons:

- None this far
