Conclusion

Burned DVD:

The seek and read times are alot faster with a burned DVD. Alot of it has to do with the smalled DVD size also.

Burned DVDRW:

Pretty good average speed for a 4x dvdrw I have to admit.

Burns times:

I tested burning a copy of Starwars 1 Phantom Menace and it took me excatly 8 minues of burn time as they have promised. I also tried a 700 mb CDR and burned a 732 mb file onto it. The final burn time was 7.03 min. Finally we tested burning Starwars 1 on the CDRW that was included with the burner. It’s a 4X cdrw and it took 14 min 39 sec which is faster than the expected time it’s supposed to burn. 8x takes 8 min so 4x should take 16 min but it only took 14.39 min.

Conclusion:

This DVDRW burner is a bargain since you get this for only ~100$ which is very cheap for a 8X burner. The burner should support +/- burning in a coming firmware if you have the guts to change it :) You get a very nice software with this as you get Sonic DVD and Sonic cineplayer and you also get a empty DVD+R and a empty DVD+RW. This burner is fast and holds the promised 8 minutes to burn a DVD. On top of everything it is very very quiet!! The tray opens without you even noticing it and you cannot hear the chassis or the motor in the burner if you watch a dvd movie. We fully recommend this player and give 5 out of 5 for an inexpensive, high quality dvd burner.

Pros:

+ Nice looking
+ Extremly QUIET!!
+ Fast!
+ Empty DVD and DVDRW included
+ Documentation
+ Firmware update enables dual burning (+/-)
+ Cheap

Cons:

- None
