Introduction
Well we have a small review today for you. We have a new product from Nexustek on the test bench. They sent us a sample of their Disktwin product which is a hard drive silencer that is supposed to silence the vibrations and also cool the disk a bit with the built in heatsinks. Lets check out if we can get rid of some vibrations with this product.

So will this product work? There’s alot of different sound dampening products out there and some work and some don’t so it will be interesting to see if this one works. It was well packed though as we can see and on the back of the package there is some instructions how you should mount it on the drive.

The back of the Disktwins are equipped with this rubber padding to lower the vibrations between the harddrive and the Dikstwin itself. Two of these come in a package of course but there is also 4 longer screws which you use to mount the Disktwin to the harddrive. The shorter ones are used to mount the drive and the Disktwins to the case itself.

As we can see the rubber pads where you mount the screws are higher than the heatsinks on the side so you don’t have to worry about vibrations when it comes to the heatsinks. Long screws go in the big holes and the small ones go in the smaller hole.

Here we have the silencer mounted on the harddrive which in this case is a Samsung 40gb 7200 RPM drive.
Testing:
Well after testing we listened for awhile and ran a few harddrive tests by transfering some files. As it turns out it really does quiet the drive down. Temperature wise we don’t have any measuring equipment for this but with a hand it kind of feels the same as normal, maybe a bit cooler and the heatsinks on the side do feel hot so the heat transfers to them. Conclusion:
This product is a good adition to your quiet case mission. I have been working on getting my case cool for a longer time now as you might have noticed in a few reviews and this will sure help my computer to be more quiet. I like the idea of the combined heatsink and noise vibration pads as you have 2 good products in one. We do recommend this and give it 5 out of 5 for a good product that cools of you drive which extends the drive lifetime and also quiets your case from vibrations from the harddrives.
Pros:
+ Cools of the drive
+ Quiets the drive
+ Well packed
+ Easy to mount
Cons:
- None
