Testing and conclusion

Testing:

I used TDD-9000 with two laptops, IBM T42 2GHz pentium-m and IBM X31 1.4GHz pentium-m. Both of them feel quite comfortable temperature wise even without the cooler. With the coolingmat we saw couple degrees temperature loss in cpu-temperature plus the surface of the laptop seemed to be a little cooler with TDD-9000. We saw nothing near the 15c temperature drops Nexus claims the product is capable of, but keep in mind that our test laptops weren’t the hottest available on markets. I believe that significant temperature decrease can be achieved with desktop replacement laptops in heavy use.

Conclusion:

In the markets of laptop cooling, Nexus TDD-9000 is a bit of a weird product. I don’t know if it can accomplish the tasks it is meant to be. Even though we saw some temperature drops in general when using the TDD-9000, it is nowhere near the amounts Nexus said it would. Priced around 20€ TDD-9000 doesn’t cost that much, so if you want to have a portable laptop cooler this might be your thing. However something to keep in mind is that TDD-9000 doesn’t have any fans in it and seems to be a proof of concept that you can enhance the cooling performance of your laptop in ecofriendly ways.

Pros:
+ Portable
+ Feels comfortable
+ No fans

Cons:
- Cooling performance
