RX-1.1K is packed nice and neat inside the cardboard box. There’s enough foam around the power supply to prevent any accidental damage during the transportation. With the power supply you get a bag which has all the modular power cables plus AC-power cable inside.
RX-1.1K has only one 12V rail providing unbelievable 83A current. This makes total of 996W which would be more than enough for even quad-sli or crossfireX setups. Four of the six PCI-E connectors are modular. The two non-modular ones are 6+2 connector type allowing them to be used even with the most power consuming graphics cards.
Like with the NX-5000 power supply we reviewed earlier, the RX-1.1K has the same black&white sleeves around the modular cables. The back of the power supply unit is made from ventilation grill allowing the exhaust air to flow smoothly out from the power supply.
Unlike many other power supply manufacturers, Nexus has decided to use 140mm fan inside their unit. This allows higher or same amount of airflow with smaller rounds per minute. However there’s a con to this which is replacing 140mm fan and that is the possibility of it breaking outside the warranty. This might be trickier than using a standard 120mm fan.
