If you recall, during my review of the Vizo hard drive cooler I had problems installing the hard drive + the cooler back into the computer case, as there was interference with the fan and the hard drive bay. This time, armed with a new case, I had high hopes that I wouldnt run into the same problems.Unfortunately, this was not the case; as you can see, the fan once again caused misalignment of the hard drive in its bay. While you can secure the hard drive using the front screws, this is not an optimal solution and one I hope the fan designers work on fixing.

Once installed, the fan was actually very quiet. However, there is no LED that comes on when the fan is operational, but this isnt too big of a deal since hard drives are usually buried in the case anyway.

Testing:

Test System:
AMD 64+ 3200+ S939 Winchester
Biostar T-Force Motherboard
1 GB Corsair ValueSelect PC3200 DDR RAM
Western Digital 250 GB 7200 rpm harddrive

Idle temperatures were taken running Windows after 30 minutes and full loads were taken while running SiSandras Burn-in Module.Temperatures (in degrees Celsius) were recorded, with the results compared with no HDD cooler.Ambient temp was about 22C.

As seen by the results, the HDD cooler did lower the hard drive by a noticeable difference.

Conclusion:

The Nexus Frisbee HDD cooler has many things going for it, including a simple design that is easy to install and operates very quietly. The fan is quite powerful for its size and power. However, there can be installation issues with some computer cases that have tight hard drive cages; if so, there can be some alignment problems.Yet overall this cooler does provide good hard drive cooling performance in a small and quiet package.

Pros:

+ Silent operations
+ Easy to install
+ Low power consumption
+ Good airflow
+ Compact

Cons:

- Interference with some hard drive cages
- No LED
