Nexus FLC-3000 R2 & CoolIT ECO A.L.C

We booted the computer and let the system idle for 30minutes before taking the idle temperatures with coretemp program. Both coolers managed to keep the processor around 40c which is quite well considering our processor has been overclocked to its maximum.

We used prime95 to stress the processor. Here we see some differences in our test coolers cooling capabilities. While FLC-3000 R2 manages to cool down the processor up to 68c temperature, it makes a lot of noise doing that.  In stress the cpu was at 68c which is a high value as AMD Phenom II processors starts to throttle down their processor frequency at 70c. You should keep in mind that our processor was overclocked and with default clocks, Nexus should cool down your processor just fine and it should be very quiet too. Having two noctuas in push-pull configuration, CoolIT achieves 63c temperature with our test processor. Worth mentioning also is the fact that the boxed cooler we had with our processor could not cool it down effectively enough and our system crashed when the processor went up to 76c.

Conclusion:

Both coolers do well in our test sessions. Nexus achieves to cool down our processor even when it is overclocked to its maximum. However this comes with its own cost. The noise levels will rise up and it definitely is not the dream of those who wish to have noiseless yet overclocked computer. The CoolIT ECO A.L.C however, can keep the processor cooled down with two ultralow noise fans (one fan included with the cooler, noctuas has to be bought separately) within reasonable temperatures. Nexus priced around 50€ and CoolIT around 80€, I can clearly see potential buyers for both of them. Whether you want good performance and the noise levels with overclocked processor aren’t an issue to you, choose Nexus. Otherwise go with CoolIT.
