If you look at our unpacking video you will see that this keyboard it split into three sections which lights up with a different color, this is a cool feature that makes the laptop stand out from the rest of the market. Quite unique!
I know the webcam doesn’t interest everyone, but we tested it quickly to get an idea on how it works. The quality is fairly decent on Skype for example. Picture quality usually depends on the bandwidth you got on your net and we ran it on a 100/10 line so we were able to provide best picture quality and it was fair in my eyes. I doubt a integrated webcam will be able to match a external webcam anytime soon unfortunetly.

The screen had no backbleed and overall picture quality was excellent on 1920*1080 resolution.
What shocked me the most was that I saw no backbleed at all which is very rare even on most external screens on the market. Viewing angles are quite decent on the GT60 and really nothing we can complain about.
Testing:
We are not going to compare this vs any laptop on the market but we are going to give you guys some results from our testing.
Powermark (Entertainment Wifi on):
1h 54 min Projected run time using 95% battery
1h 36 min Archived Run time
80% Archieved battery consumption
Powermark (Balanced Wifi on):
2h 19 min Projected run time using 95% battery
2h 1 min Archived Run time
83.00% Archieved battery consumption
We can clearly see some fair results when it comes to our battery testing, running Powermark shows real life situations like the Entertainment and Balanced mode. We can see that with the Balanced mode on we got about 2h 19 mins in the benchmark. Windows own shows about 3 hours battery time with normal browsing in Windows.
Heaven Demo 1920*1080:
24.7 2X AA FPS
622 1980*1080 Score
Dirt 2:
63.9 Average FPS
We ran some gaming also to give you an idea on how the laptop performs with gaming. It is equipped with a powerful videocard and we can both benchmarks at 1920*1080. Heaven had 2X Anti Aliasing and Dirt 2 had 4X Anti Aliasing activated. We can see that we got some very nice results in our test, Dirt2 averaged at around 64FPS in our benchmarks which for a laptop is very good.
Sandra Cpu Arithmetic:
91.12 Aggregate GOPS
106.47 Dhrystone GIPS
78 Whetstone GFLOPS
Sandra Cpu Multimedia:
216.84 Aggregate Mpix/s
182.15 Multi-media Integer Mpix/s
Sandra Memory Benchmark:
19.74 Aggregate GB/s
19.74 Integer
We ran some Sisoft Sandra 2012 to give you an idea of how the CPU and memory performs. Looking at the numbers above we can see that they can be compared towards a stationary rig without any problems, perhaps not the top of the line but better than a lot of mainstream CPU’s and memory performs at a quite high bandwidth.

Conclusion:
The biggest con with this laptop is that it cost about 1500$ which is way more than people can afford these days, for that type of money you can get a decent Apple laptop that is thinner and lighter than this one although not with the same hardware. If you are in the market for an awesome gaming laptop and you don’t care about weight at all this is your choice. It was the first MSI laptop we have looked at thus far and I am quite happy with the results, like every laptop on the market this one has its flaws but I will for sure recommend this awesome piece of hardware amd award it with our editors choice award for excellent performance and reliability.
Buy this laptop at trusted stores like Newegg and Amazon.
Pros:
+ FAST!
+ Full HD
+ Dual SSD
+ Comfortable
+ Decent battery time for the hardware
Cons:
- Heavy
- Price (1500$ @ Newegg)
