First Look at the Cooler
The high performance CPU cooler market has gotten very competitive lately, and after the release of Intel’s Core i7 platform not every cooler is compatible with the larger cpu. Fortunately many manufacturers, including Kingwin, are now including Core i7 mounting hardware with their existing coolers. Most coolers are still compatible with older processors though, so it is important to make sure they are effective in every setup. Now, RBMods reviews the Kingwin XT-1264.
A computer is no longer only found in an office or large corporation. The personal computer (PC) has evolved into something much larger, and taken on a more distinct personality. It has also taken on the image of a personal accessory that we can see, use; and touch as part of our everyday lives, both in and out of the home. The PC in fact has become and taken on its own personality, as individual, and as the person using it. As the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) market grows, the evolution of the PC is only limited by the imagination of the user. The DIY market now offers a multitude of accessories and customizable options, combining both the personality of the PC and the User into one

The heatsink comes packaged in a black and yellow cardboard box with pictures sporting the cooler’s copper heatpipes and flat base. Kingwin calls this their HTC technology, or Heatpipe Touch Chip, meaning that the four heatpipes come in direct contact with the CPU. The front of the box features a badge that identifies the cooler as compatible with Core i7 processors. The back of the box lists the specifications, and on one side, the packaging tells the consumer all compatible processors. A plastic window lets you see the fan and a few of the cooler’s aluminum fins.
Inside the box, the cooler and accessories are suspeneded between two platics inserts and protected from most damage that might occur during transportation of the package. In between the plastic the fan is attached to the cooler using two metal clips. Intel mounting materials are packaging in plastic bags alongside a small pouch of thermal compound, a plastic applicator, and an installation manual. AMD mounting hardware comes pre-installed. No backplate is included for any system.
