Usage & Conclusion
Installing the wireless keyboard and mouse combo is as simple as plugging in the receiver, waiting for your OS to install the appropriate drivers automatically, and then using the combo! There are no “connect” buttons to worry about. You just plug it in and it works.
Both the mouse and keyboard are very comfortable to use with normal office type applications. With an HTPC application, the selectable 800DPI setting is a very nice feature as the 1600DPI setting was too sensitive. The keyboard and mouse combo blend in well both aesthetically and functionally in the HTPC environment.
Battery life was tested for a total of 10 days with this set being used as my primary mouse and keyboard for mostly content creation applications. So far no sign of battery depletion, but I-Rocks says the batteries should last for 12 months in the keyboard and 6 months in the mouse with an average usage of 4 hours/day.
Speaking of battery life, it is obvious that I-Rocks has implemented a battery saving technology when the mouse is idle for a period of time. It really doesn’t get in the way of normal usage, as the mouse wakes up quickly after being moved.
Response time of the keyboard seems to be instantaneous, but the mouse does lag slightly. This isn’t a big deal for people except in gaming situations. Therefore, I can’t recommend this mouse for gaming, but it is ideal for just about everything else.
Conclusion:
The I-Rocks wireless keyboard and mouse combo is a very easy to use and comfortable combo that performs well in various roles.
The appealing features include the simple installation, lack of software battery low indicators, selectable mouse resolution, notebook-like keyboard keys, tiny receiver, and the two side mouse buttons. The objectionable items include the lack of caps lock, scroll lock and num lock indicators and the large Enter key/ small Backspace key.
For the price of $49,99, the I-Rocks IF-6572 Nano is an excellent package suitable for everything besides gaming. I wouldn’t have any hesitations in recommending this product!
