Hornettek Viper and Hover Enclosures

Designed to be streamlined and stylish, the Hover suits the high quality demands of external storage users. The Hover is constructed with a metal frame and enclosed in plastic molding for HDD protection and as part of its sophisticated design.

The Hover is equipped with USB 2.0 and eSATA combo interface (SCC model only) with data transfer speeds of up to 3G/sec. The Hover is multi-platform and works well with a PC or a Mac and features a plug and play, lightweight, compact, portable storage design.

The Hover occupies minimal space with its compact design by utilizing the vertical stand (included). Powered by the 12V/2A adapter, the Hover supports most of the latest 3.5” SATA HDD. The Hover instantly adds storage to desktops or notebooks.

Here again, while the Hornettek Hover does support hot swap in eSATA mode, it is important to note that the SATA controller must also support hot swapping in order for that feature to function.

Note the two fans here. This feature certainly positions the Hover closer to the enthusiast crowd.  The fans intake air on the sides and exhaust heated air from the rear, effectively cooling both the top and bottom of the hard drive.

Hornettek provides all that is required to assemble the enclosure with a hard drive. They even include extra screws!

The rear shows the Hover’s connections from top to bottom: 12VDC input for power, a rocker switch to turn the unit on or off, USB 2.0, and eSATA.

The power and activity LEDs are located front and center on the Hover. Being blue in color the LEDs match with many popular enthusiast hardware choices. More than slightly brighter than the LEDs on the Viper, the Hover’s LEDs are much easier to see.
