Gigabyte Ga-K8nxp-sli motherboard
Overclocking:
This is very interesting even though the board was not quite as fast as the others in standard testing I have some very nice results to share with you about the overclocking testing we have done. With some platinum memory from OCZ we were able to push the memory up to 270 mhz at 2T standard timings. Then we swtiched over to 3700 Gold Rev3 sticks and were able to push the ram up to 280FSB Superpi stable and even up to 290 Superpi stable. At 1T timings we ran the ram at 250 superpi stable so there is some potential in this board. You can get the “hidden” overclocking menu in the bios by pushing down Ctrl and F1 button and it allows you to change timings etc in your ram.
Conclusion:
Well what to say to end this review? Standard speeds are a bit to slow I think as the numbers show but then when it comes to overclocking this board really performs well. I’m sorry I don’t have any SLI results for you but I was not able to get ahold of 2 similiar cards or a SLI kit from Gigabyte or anywhere else. I am amazed over the overclocking results that we were able to get though and it really boost this board. I don’t see that there is much to complain about more than the stock speeds which probably can be fixed with a bios update and that the board does not have included round cables. I like the package and the included WLAN card which is a very nice addition also. Overall we give this 4 out of 5 and our recommendation for a great overclocker board with a bunch of nice features as SLI, SATA etc.
Pros:
+ Well packed
+ SLI
+ Overclocks very well
+ Quiet fans
+ Good accessories
Cons:
- No rounded cables
- Stock speeds to slow
Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots
