Gigabyte 7vaxp-a Ultra

The Bios:

Now lets have some close looks on the Bios and see if they have improved it somehow or put on some more features.

The first page on the left and the PC Health menu on the right. Check the Pc health menu from time to time to see if your computer is to hot :)

On the left we have the Frequency/Voltage control which is to me a important menu :) It’s of course the overclocking menu. On the right we have the Integrated peripherals

Left the advance bios features. The right shows the standard bios features. Such as; HDD, FDD, time etc etc

Overclocking:

Gigabyte has Easytune as standard on the motherboard CD. Easytune shows your voltages, how hot it is, and gives you the possibility to overclock in Windows without restarting. I tried overclocking the 1600+ XP and got it easy to 1900+ with Easytune. It’s easy to overclock with this program as you don’t have to restart the computer after every change you have made. So this board actually does overclock pretty good as I got a 1600 up to 1900 without even changing voltage. I know some motherboard with Kt400 had problems to overclock but it seems like that it’s changed with the Kt400a.

Conclusion:

As usual the Gigabyte boards are really overclocker friendly. There is not much difference in the KT400 and the KT400a chipset but I have to say that if I would buy a new one I would spend the extra 10$ and buy this. You get alot of accessories and cables with this board and for newbs there are tons of manuals. The bad thing about this board is that there are no holes around the cpu socket so you can put on heavy air cooling or waterblocks. Otherwise I do not find alot else that is bad with this board.

Pros: + Manuals and Accessories
+ Alot of good features as SATA,Raid,USB2 and Firewire etc
+ Well packed
+ Overclock friendly

Cons:
- No holes around the CPU Socket

Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots
