Introduction

Today we are taking a look at another memory stick from Corsair. Corsair is most known for their ram kits, but lately they have been producing durable and fast flash memory sticks also. Their latest creation is called Survivor and is a 8Gb memory stick with a durable brushed steel casing, will this drive pass our tests and how well does it perform vs its older brother Voyager GT?

The product comes packed in a similar plastic cover as the Voyager series did. You can see the product and you can read about its main features on the front. The back holds some information about Corsair and the product.

With the product you get a usb extension cable and a necklace so you can have it around your neck. You also have a tag mounted on the necklace, it is one of those military type tags but they have printed the Corsair logo on it. I guess if the drive dies during our testing I should send the tag back to its family (Corsair) :) .

This memory stick looks and feels awesome, the brushed steel casing gives it a luxury feeling. The rubber pads on both ends also help protect it vs leaks and dents. The drive is apparently waterproof down to 200m, now we dont have the means to test this our right now but we will do some serious testing later in this review.

The case covers the whole USB part of the drive, by removing the cover you get access to the really thin USB stick.

The Survivor is a bit bigger than the Voyager, but the thing is that the Survivors case is bigger so it protects better than the Voyagers rubber casing. I don’t think either of the drives are to big or small in this case. On the right picture you can see the Surivor hanging around my neck, it feels quite nice around the neck weightwise, I would prefer the standard cloth necklace from Corsair though as this metal one irritates my neck after awhile.
