Introduction

Today Ill be reviewing the latest CPU cooler offering from Coolink- the Silentator CPU Cooler. This is the first time weve had a chance to review a product from this company so it should be interesting to see how it performs. This large horizontal cooler has a simple yet attractive design, but will its performance be on par with other CPU coolers? And what application is it better suited for- a silent PC build or a gaming/overclocking build?Lets find out.

The Coolink Silentator CPU Cooler came well packaged in a sturdy box with pictures and detailed information.Much better than the clear plastic enclosures that many cooler come in.According to the packaging, the coolers unique features are its 3 dual-heatpipes, its quiet fan, and its unique fan mounting system called SecuFirm.

Opening the box, the package contents were well secured in custom carboard inserts. Our test sample came with the cooler, mounting brackets for 3 different CPU sockets (LG 755, AM2, and K8, a fan speed controller, and a set of accessories that included a special screw driver, two screws and springs, thermal paste, and an instruction manual.Note that the retail version of the product only comes with one set of mounting brackets (not 3), which unfortunately limits the versatility of the product.

The first thing I noticed about the Silentator is its size; its quite a bit bigger than most of the coolers Ive come across. The fan is a 120mm fan, which is pretty large considering most fans are either 80 or 100mm for CPU coolers.Obviously, with its large size comes added weight; the cooler actually exceeds the 450g weight specification established by Intel and AMD.However, the cooler comes with a special mounting system dubbed SecuFirm which provides added pressure to ensure safe transportation.

The heat sink is made of a machined copper base that interfaces with the CPU and a set of fins connected by six copper heat-pipes.The copper base appeared to be machined-smooth and free of imperfections, and it comes with a protective plastic sleeve that weve come to expect with most coolers. Also of note is the tool-less fan mounting system; the cooler comes with a 2nd set of brackets to allow another fan to be connected if desired.
