Introduction

These days people need to get more and bigger drives due to the software taking up more space, and in some cases you might run out of space and therefore there are external enclosures that you can have on the table. These units run with USB2 and today we take a look at a enclosure from Coolermaster named Xcraft. This is a IDE enclosure but it’s also available for SATA drives. The problem with these USB2 enclosures has usually been heat and speed as USB2 is not nearly as fast as IDE.

The Xcraft comes packed in a very nice box with a printed picture. On the picture you have a black unit but there is also a silver colored one available. On the back you have some specifications and pictures of the unit from different views.

You get a small manual that holds instructions in several different languages. The cd includes drivers and some software. In WinXP you don’t need any drivers though as it’s found as a removable drive. If you have a small HDD you get some special mounting pieces so you can mount in the enclosure. You also get several cables, like USB, firewire etc.

You also get a power cable, and the adapter itself is compatible from 110-220V so you can just change one of the pieces so you get an american plugin and it will work. It’s a simple two pin cable going into the adapter.
