Silent Computer Article

Posted on: 12/5/2008 6:25:22 AM
These days everyone wants a quiet computer, it doesnt matter if its a stationary, laptop or HTPC they are all supposed to perform at all times with the smallest amount cooling possible. That equation does not really go together that well, todays computer parts put out a amazing amount of heat so there will be noise until we figure out another way to keep the parts cool.

Dreamhack is the biggest LAN Party in the world with up to 10000 computers. The summer version that we are going to talk about today is not as big as the winter one. There was plenty to look at though as we went down there the first day of the LAN alot of people were still arriving to the event which was nice to see. They also have some companies showing their latest gear and this time we saw Asus, Mushkin, Steelseries just to mention a few.

Will the Small Entertainment Centers or Handheld Computers ever replace Laptops?

Posted on: 5/18/2006 12:00:00 AM
I was surfing the net and looking into some new products on Creative’s website, that’s when the question hit me; will the small MP3 entertainment systems or handheld computers be able to replace the “bulky” laptops? Yes the laptops are getting quite a bit smaller every day that goes by as the manufacturers are able to squeeze all this new technology into smaller and smaller cases, but comparing a laptop to a handheld of any kind is still like comparing a laptop vs a stationary computer.

Mp3 players- what should you look for?

Posted on: 5/18/2006 12:00:00 AM
I have worked at an Mp3 company before, (not to mention any names) and I have somewhat of an idea of what to look for when it comes to an mp3 player. I worked as support crew which gives me an idea what people are looking for in general. There are loads and loads of different players out there; Creative, Ipod, JOS, Sandisk, Iriver, Iaudio and tons of smaller companies that sell other generic mp3 players. They have all released an assortment of different players with different features, which leaves the consumer clueless as to what they should purchase. To start with I would recommend people going for USB2 on their mp3 players to be able to transfer the songs information, etc… to the player as fast as possible.

VOIP the latest hype or actually the future?

Posted on: 5/18/2006 12:00:00 AM
We all hear about Voip here and Voip there but what does it really stand for? Voip stands for ‘Voice over Internet control’ which basically means the phone over the internet. We have seen Skype, MSN, etc… come onto the market with the marketing slogan, ‘call free over the internet.’ But is it really free? It is partly free, however you have to have a computer connected to the internet at all times to be able to receive calls and make calls over the internet. Skype has done something good when it comes to the issue of being able to call to a normal phone over the internet. You can buy some of their ‘Skypeout’ credits and use them to make calls.

Video card jungle, what to buy and what not to buy?!

Posted on: 5/18/2005 12:00:00 AM
I think the topic is a very good one for today. I believe most of us have sat down and thought, ‘It’s time to upgrade the video card and get rid of the lag out of Battlefield 2 or World of warcraft,’ etc. You sit down have a look at the cheapest Webshop and find 20 different Nvidia cards and 20 different ATI cards

MMPORG just an addictive game genre?

Posted on: 5/18/2005 12:00:00 AM
We all have once or twice heard about MMPORG games. For example WOW, EQ, AC2 etc etc etc. I could count several more online games which are of this type of genre. What I will discuss with you today is whether or not these games are bad and addictive?

Air or Watercooling?

Posted on: 5/16/2005 12:00:00 AM
It seems like the market makes it harder and harder for the average consumer to make choices. You have 20-30 different video cards, you have 10 different brands of memory which all claim to be the best, and then in the end you have around 100 different air coolers for your socket type. You finally make your decisions and find out that maybe watercooling or a Vapochill might be something for you, I mean this is really a mess for the average consumer that just wants to put together a new setup for him/herself. I think that it’s safe to say that a Vapochill is out of the normal consumers budget so we can skip it as the a price is over 500$. However for those who have the money and the skill to use the Vapochill I definitely recommend it.
