iPad 3 soon in stores!

So what are your thoughts on the iPad 3? Better screen, better camera and a tiny version of Siri are the biggest changes.

Battery time remains the same but the iPad gets a bit thicker. They named it “The new iPad” which must be one of the stupidest names ever.

Maybe Apple are to scared to name it iPad 2S due to the anger users showed when the iPhone 4S was released. I get a feeling something better will be released this fall, the upgrade is just to small from the iPad2 and it will mainly be bought by super tech geeks that want the latest.

What are your thoughts?

DIY Headphone amplifier

I had a bit of spare time last weekend and I’ve been wanting to get a headphone amplifier for ages. Found a nice tutorial at http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/ and decided to give it a go. With a piece of protoboard, couple components and a soldering iron I was able to build the simple amplifier. If you have demanding headphones and want to get all out from them and know how to use soldering iron, go ahead and build one – the difference in sound is astonishing. Unlike the tutorial, I used a simple aluminium box as my enclosure but a mint tin as seen in the tutorial should have more than enough space for the PCB required.

Worlds largest game controller

NES Controller

While I was surfing in the internet earlier today I saw the newest Guinness World Record. Apparently some guys in Holland have made the worlds largest game controller. It is shaped like the original NES controller but is about 30 times larger than the original one.

Read the whole article here for all the details.

DIY Pinball

While surfing through the internet I found a cool article describing how someone made a Arcade pinball emulator machine from a computer, couple TFT:s, a bit of wiring and couple buttons. Personally I think this shows what is possible if you have time, means and tools. Kudos for Metku.net for sharing this article and showing that this kind of modding community is still alive!

2011 is now behind us!

In 2011 Rbmods swapped platform to WordPress which we currently run. We had 4 reviews and also ran Rbmods.se which is our Swedish sister site.

In 2012 I expect the site to start growing again and also I hope to bring you guys more hardware reviews again since I know we have been lacking in that department lately.

Hope you all have a good 2012!

Merry Christmas!

RBMods.com wishes you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2012!

RBMods will keep you up to date with reviews and news during the holidays and you can expect us to continue working hard the next year too.
